Welcome too Coin community, I've been searching for this commemerative medal and it is illusive. I've found a similar match but made of different metal? Here is a link to that http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar...881-1981-_JM This one is copper and weighs less, I will continue trying too find this. But it's a start...the search continues :D

I was wondering if there's any chance of you trying specific gravity on this?

It's smaller in diameter and heavier than the original peso it is modeled after. If the thickness is the same 2.7 mm, then this would be made of .999 fine silver. Have you checked the "Unusual World Coins" book? I don't have my copy on hand at the moment.

Parmalat are you by chance a member of the site I linked above? If so, maybe you could ask the seller about the Medal? I think he might be helpful, I just worry if I sign up my translated Spanish may become a different question to what I pose lol.

awallin01. You cannot found information about because IT´S NOT a coin, if not a medal made by the numismatic society of the country, reason was the anniversary of our first national coin, the Peso 1881. Personaly I wouldnt pay something for it, save the melt silver price.

It looks like it's along the line of what the Royal Canadian Mint put's out often.
A commemorative coin for something historic.
it has the 2 peso value but is probably worth more in the silver melt content.
our mint puts out so many you can't keep up with them.
