Voltigeurs New Member Canada 45 Posts	Posted 03/23/2014 3:15 pm This week end I went to Nuphilex show and I listened a discussion between a dealer and a Customer about grading the nickel series (between 1922 to 1935). For me, this serie is the hardest to grade. The Customer bring the fact about weak strike for this serie (wich I fully agree with him). He explain the detail missing in the clothing of the king (particulary the collar and the ribbons). The dealer answered and tell him that the 2 leafs on the reverse was more important to look for. Here's my concern. When I gave a grade to a coin, it reflect all the coin surface and detail. What was the point with the leaf? They are a part of the coin as the letters, the crown or others détails too... Did they are more reflective for the stike quality or average condition of the coin? I don't listen all the discussion but enough to open some questions in my mind. Thanks * Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. * Report this Post to the Staff

wireman09 Pillar of the Community Canada 972 Posts	Posted 03/23/2014 10:24 pm IMO the easiest way to tell weak strikes in this series is in the king's crown. In MS coins the jewels can be faint or not even there. In almost all years a full band with all jewels clearly struck are hard coins to find. Report this Post to the Staff
