Well, now my ship date has been changed to 5/16/14. First it was 4/16/14, then 5/11/14, and now this morning 5/16/14. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll EVER see them Guess I'm over-anxious at this point...

So not bother you all with my situation (yeah I know, too late), USPS showed up the afternoon that my MIL left for the summer - three days after they had the parcel 'out for delivery'. The neighbour met the postal worker and tried to accept the package (and another) but they would not allow her to sign for them - she has a key to the house and could just as easily have greeted the guy at the door but that didn't seem to matter. Anyway, the coins were apparently returned to the Mint. Now I have to wade into that mess with them and see if they can resend them to me in Canada or issue a refund. I guess I'd prefer the refund rather than pay 50-60 bucks more in shipping, tax and brokerage for 2 proof silver coins. Oddly, FedEx tracking shows the parcel was delivered. USPS shows it as delivered and then 3 minutes later, undeliverable.

Hmmm. Fedex Smartpost (delivered by USPS) does not require a signature

Well, all my silver coins (regardless of order date/time) are all on 5/16 expected shipping date. The clad half coins are on 6/1 (Proof) and 6/21 (Unc). It's fun watching all these dates shifting.....

Thanks for that info Foxwoods Man. I didn't think it required a signature either but the letter carrier wouldn't leave the package. Tracking also shows "Notice Left (No Authorized Recipient Available)" Monday night at 7pm. There was no notice left and there were people home at that time.
I really don't know what recourse I have except to contact the US mint. I opened a case with USPS Monday night and have yet to be contacted - they have a 48 service standard.

I've never had a USPS-delivered package require a signature either.

Received an email from the mint to let me know my date has moved back to 5/20. Am wondering if this is more permanent that the standard backwards dance with no notification?

If it's insured they require a signature. The conversation was about US Mint shipments. USPS shipments BY THE MINT do not require a signature. The Mint does not insure USPS shipments.

In my case, US Mint confirmed that the parcel did not require a signature and they had no explanation why the postal carrier decided not to deliver it. (CSR said "that shouldn't have happened"). I can't seem to get any information from USPS. In any case, if the parcel is returned to the Mint, then they will resend it to me in Canada. There is no visibility of it until it gets back to the mint so it could just as easily 'go missing', if it hasn't already. Interestingly, US Mint tracking system, like FedEx, shows it was 'delivered'. Only USPS shows that it is not. I may eventually get the coins (and pay $30 extra or so in taxes/brokerage fees) or I may never see them. I should know in a month or so. I have to say, US Mint customer service was top notch. Very helpful, very pleasant and very sincerely empathetic.
