Well...my gold hasn't moved up. I ordered at 2:06pm and got a 6/15 ship date in my first email. It has slipped to 6/19 as of today. My silver coins are sitting with a 4/14 ship date and they have been pretty much there since the order was placed as well.

My past experience with these backordered items from the mint is that they are usually conservative with their dates. A year from now mo ones going to care if they came in April or July.

Gold coins sold out as of 12ET today. Sales numbers from the spreadsheet show over 59K sold on both gold coins, over 21K for the unc, 37K for the proof. Waiting list is approximately 9,000+ coins. There will be few cancellations I expect. Silver dollars up to 228K those probably won't last long either. The interesting coins will be the clad halves if they sell slowly, say for a four or five months sales period. Latecomers might decide to pay the premium on the gold and silver they missed out to complete the set, so keeping the premiums high. So far 111K of 750K.

I can't believe the ebay prices these things are going for. . . $40 for the proof clad 1/2 dollar, $75 + for the silver proof, & $600 for the gold proof.
I know this is not a "normal" price appreciation, but as I am knew to coin collecting does anyone have something to compare it to?

The Coin Vault was selling a silver Opening Day PR70 for $500 and a gold MS70 for $4000. Crazy, Talk about gouging.

I ordered the silver & clad proofs and UNC's today. They are backordered till June 19th, but I am not in a hurry to get them.

It happens with things that are very popular and sell out fast like the 2011 ASE set. Its unusual to see in commemorative though and probably wont be seen again for quite some time.

Thats what the dollars are getting on ebay. Thats actually lower than some of them have been selling for. Even the clads from the baltimore show are getting almost 400 now. The gold is priced really high though, NGC sets for both are selling under 4k but theyre still getting over 1500 a coin.

Youre good for the dollars and half dollars. When was your gold ordered? Thats the latest ship date I've seen so far.

I placed that order late on the 27th, possibly 2000 (PST). I have talked to the Mint & been told both that the gold order is & that it is not waitlisted. While it is possible that the gold order was waitlisted the first call (Friday) & has since moved up the list to filled by the 2nd call (Monday) this leaves me with a "I'm not sure that they are sure what is going on" kind of feeling.

Well, July is far away & hopefully will know for sure either way a few months b4 then. & since this is a 2nd order (first one is definitely going to be filled) I'm ok either way.

After comparing the email sent to me by the mint with the original order I realize that one item is missing. I also ordered an uncirculated gold coin (which is missing from today's email).
This leads me to believe that everything else in the email is infact on order & the uncirculated gold coin is either cancelled or still on the wait list.

(Edit) I just checked the mint website & the uncirculated gold coin on this order has a backordered date of 07/16/14. Again leading me to believe it is waitlisted and all of the rest of the order is ok.
