My order displayed as on hold, does it mean the order is successful?

Ok, might be the wrong place for this but I have to ask. I went to the APMEX website to do some comparison shopping. As expected the $5 gold proof PCGS 70 was highest at $4,495, Then $5 PCGS 70 uncirculated at $3,995. While this might be a bit of sticker shock (But mostly inline with ebay) what surprised me was the second highest. The CLAD 1/2 Dollar Proof PF 70 $1,295 & CLAD 1/2 Dollar Uncirculated MS 70 $1,295. Even the PF/MS 69 was very high ( $799 for each). I am wondering if this means that either most who bought the 1/2 dollar at the Baltimore show didn't bother to have them graded or the clad are just that hard to make/grade PF/MS 70 or 69? App ex is high for the clads unless prices jumped. Last I saw they were about 400 for the ngc ones on ebay. The pcgs ones should be more but it's possible the submission rate on them was very low further limiting availability. My impression though would be ebay would be cheaper when they start appearing. Pcgs did mention that they had to take a bunch back to Newport Beach with them because they weren't able to get them all done at the show so there should be some more in the pipeline. Right now the pcgs pop has about 180 first pitch ms clads with just over 50 percent 70s. The proof halfs they have 172 with under 50 percent 70s. Given the mint took their time with these and the back ordering now I expect quality to decline some with orders from here on out

I've been told by a knowledgeable source that 30% or more of the Baseball HOF coins graded so far have been either MS70 or PF70. This is a high percentage! "70" coins are not going to be as scarce as you might expect. Current (outrageous) pricing is based on all of the initial dealer-generated hype for these coins. Personally, I do not believe the current prices will be maintained long-term. I wouldn't buy in at current prices. Just my humble opinion, of course. Your mileage may vary.

The current prices are largely based off the Baltimore label like the ANA reverse proof buffalo. Those prices did come down a bit from their initial highs but they still sell for a substantial premium. These will likely follow the same path of a small slide but their pricing will probably remain independent from the rest of the series with a large premium over other 70s

Call me an "old-fashioned" collector, but I will always care much more about the coins in my collection than any special label inserted in a holder. I know other collectors enjoy collecting the various label inserts and respect their efforts, but I'm fairly confident that I will never be one of them.

commems...that includes me as well. With the ability to print any label I want - this fascination with a label is beyond me. The pedigree isn't even interesting... and certainly not worth 10 times retail.
What will be interesting is the value of these as the field levels. With 32,000 proof gold coins and 18,000 uncirculated - you'll have a possible 18,000 complete sets. How much will that impact the value of the uncirculated coin in the long run... I bought 1 extra uncirculated - thinking I might be able to sell it in the future fairly easy.

I would look at that and see that 70% sent in for grading did NOT get a grade of 70 which would be unbelievable. FYI: PCGS stats for the HOF as of 4/1: Gold: UNC...75 coins graded.... 61 MS70 (81%) and 14 MS69 PF....73 coins graded.... 59 PF70 (79%) and 14 PF69 Silver: UNC...212 coins graded....163 MS70 (77%), 48 MS69 & 1 MS68 PF....299 coins graded....213 PF70 (71%), 86 PF69 I did not see any HOF stats from NGC

While I agree 30 percent would be low, it should be noted that the current pops are for the first pitch Baltimore coins which the mint almost certainly put more time in quality control for. It's possible the rate carries on but with the massive back log of orders I won't be the least bit surprised if quality slips some.
I am very curious to see what the rates turn out for when some of the freshly minted orders start rolling into the grading rooms.
On a side note one unlucky soul did end up with a pf 68 for the dollar

I checked my order this morning and the expected ship date was 4/15. I went back on this afternoon and the expected ship date has been bumped UP to 4/3. Has anyone else seen the expected ship date change on their order? Ben

My reusable bag is on the way. I have the UPS tracking number.
The rest of my order is 'in stock and reserved'.
