My 2014 finds so far are 3 10p's and 2 5p's.

Bloke at work says he's had both the penny and two pence, though I think he's winding me up.

Awesome ! I havent got the 10p ones yet , I will have to do some hunting this week

Ironically today I also picked up another shiny 2014 5p by a parking meter , I have now picked almost as many 2014 5p `s as I have got in change

is there a good reason that the old cupro nickel coins are
being replaced by nickel plated steel?

I've a theory that it could be because copper is pricier
than steel for a given volume/weight and they don't want to
end up with 5p/10p that have a higher melt value than face
value. maybe this is also why they replaced the earlier 5p/10p's
with smaller versions.

I'm going to hold onto a few cupro coins, never know, could be
worth a fortune once Royal Mint melts all the others

Interesting theory , yes the price of copper and nickel has forced them to re-evaluate composition (& previously the size) of 5p and 10p`s .... My suspicion is that they will melt the 5p and 10p coins and use the metal to make new 50p coins since the percentage of copper and nickel is similar between the 50p`s and the disappearing 5p and 10p coins.....

If you want to hang onto cupronickel 5ps and 10p best get started ASAP as I am seeing fewer and fewer in the circulation...

Awesome stuff Steve & Kena ....nothing for me on the 2 pence front but I did get a 2014 penny this afternoon - the funny thing was I decided to get a can that would that would have resulted in me getting a penny in change instead of one that cost me exact amount I had on and it paid off

Nice one DaytR, I'll be looking for those then. When I'm at work I put coins in the drinks machine and hit the reject button and that gives me a different dated coin, sometimes it pays off.... I should get out more...lol

Thanks for the news about the 1 pence coins. So it seems that the 1 pence through 10 pence are out there.
