I've been trying to figure out which varieties these quarters are for some time and have a hard time comparing them to the examples in the Charlton guide. I have found that the differences between the wide and narrow 0's (and narrow over wide) are very subtle...more so than other varieties. I may submit them to a TPG at some point in the future to get a formal opinion. I now think they are both wide 0, but I purchased #1 as a narrow 0. I used some graphics software to overlay the two images on one another and the shape and location of the 0's appear to be identical between the two coins. Other examples I have found appear to have the narrow 0 on a slightly different spot on the coin than the wide 0 in additional to the differently shaped 0. I however think the photos can be better (#1 is taken at a slight angle) as they were quickly taken with inferior equipment. Report this Post to the Staff
