DaytR - Yes, it still had a bit of lustre around the lettering and in the lower parts of the design.

This morning I came across this lovely 5p, I spotted it just as was about to step on it .... judging by the damage I figure it was there over night ,its still in decent shape .... Interestingly enough, on the subject of 5p coins, the last 24hrs has been incredible - yesterday I found six abandoned 5p coins (shown below) in the self service checkout change receptacle , 4 x shiny new 2014 coins and one was a 2013 and one was circulated but still a bit shiny 2012 ....

Weird - I found a shiny 2013 5p on the floor of the gents' restroom at my workplace today.

Wrong thread surely, shouldn't this go under 'Sewer searching'?

What a wet day it is today , but good things tend to come on wet days ...... The shiny penny was next to huge puddle and even with the dull light I couldnt miss its shiny gleam , then around 4 minutes later just by the road was the 20p. Its my first 2014 20p, ironically , and it has been driven over a few times (see reverse around the lettering "Twenty" and below the bottom lions leg) ... at least its no longer lonely out there in the wet cold .

I came across this 2010 dated 5p on a busy road while going past a green painted cafe I sometimes go past. The obverse was more or less perfect but the reverse was less than nice (see image below) ........maybe someone dropped it after one too many latte`s

A 50p A came across this one by an odd coincidendence, there was a lady unloading heavy stuff from an automobile and the pavement in that part of town was narrow so I decided to try and go round her and .......bingo ! I saw somwthing on the road . I figure this one was there for less than 4 hours as it hadnt been driven over hence its immaculate shape....

Yay! I picked up a 1983 £1 coin from the road as I walked home from work this evening!
It was in good shape and had no obvious recent damage, so it can't have been there long!
Off-topic, but earlier today I was getting some paper clips from a stationery cupboard at work and thought I could see the edge of a coin stuck at the back of the drawer! I managed to extract it - and am now the proud owner of a 2004 East Caribbean 5 cents!

Found this today. Quite a few 64's , none so elegant.

I found this on a road near the entrance to a secluded beach in an industrial section of the city. It's a little bent too. 1974 copper Canadian cent.

interesting stuff Silver Handle & chequer I got a good haul off the road today After an inspiring afternoon I came across the 2011 penny (on the left) in the middle of the main thoroughfare and picked it up while traffic whizzed by , barely 10 minutes later I got the 2001 penny (in the middle)by an adjoining road ......then while crossing another thoroughfare , right in the middle I sp0tted a small round silver looking round object (the 2013 5p on the right) and I knew it was something familiar ! Looking from left to right -as the day went by the road coins I picked were getting better looking anyway I am loving this Extreme coin collecting
