For anyone who disagrees with my assessment: want to buy about 150 50% silver commemorative dollars from the 70s and 80s?

They are baiting people to buy the gold coin speculating it will jump like the last one, which I doubt it will. That being said, it is $750 or less, I will probably bite and try to flip.

The success of the 2nd Gold Superman coin will depend on the mintage and design. If the Mint increases the mintage of it to 2500 or 3000 coins it is not going doing as well as the first one.

When the coin is available I expect there to be a feeding frenzy for it. Last time it was slow to sell out but not this time. There will not be enough supply for MC members, let alone the general public.

I was just looking at the specs of the 2013 superman gold coin and was wondering why it was made of 14 carat gold instead of pure gold like Steam Boat Willlie ?

I think it had to do with keeping the price lower and the size of the coin bigger or some combo of that as they figured there would be "superman" collectors not just the normal coin collectors buying them and a "Gold" superman coin is a "Gold" coin , so its just marketing I guess.
Maybe others have a better answer but that's how I looked at it.

As I remember, most of the people, who where aware about the first series (last year), agreed, that the gold coin not worth to buy. Not attractive and 14karat. And only collectors, who wanted all set (or major 4 coins), initially wrote, that they will buy it.

Even after coins reveal, it was "free for issue" for one day, and only after general public, (which do not care about the coins, but wanted the Superman) started to buy it and prices raised - it became desirable.

If everyone tell you, that this is a good coin, and it sells well - it really good coin, doesn't metter which opinion you had.

So probably, RCM wants to repeat success of 2013 and sell more coins.
In my opinion, some of them will be done well.

I had to call RCM on another matter today so I asked the Rep about another Superman coin being released this year and she said no..... coins usually come out on anniversaries and dates that mean something and the 76th anniversary of Superman is not one of them.
So we'll see what happens.

The leak is probably coming from a Canada Post employee. For some strange reason, they seem to get information first...even before Mint customer service reps.

From OP - elkslayer132

Heard today there will be another Superman series One gold and 5 silver coins should be out next month or so.

@ elkslayer132 and all of you other folks:

Why should we give any credence to this totally unsubstantiated rumour?

It's fine to joke about it, but seriously why would the RCM be silly enough to put out such series so soon after the original, or ever?

Perhaps it's another mint that is going to try and cash in on the Superman mania? elkslayer132 didn't say who was going to produce it.

Lots of questions, no answers to date...

On the other forum Elkslayer goes into detail that it has been confirmed by 2 separate locations one from the owner another by an employee. Perhaps they are wrong but I do believe him that this is what he was told.

I still don't understand the reasoning behind another round of 6 coins a year later. This is madness.

What I can assume, that RCM minted a few more (one or two coins), commissioned by CP. And CP in its turn, going to combine some of the old (2013 - that they held) and new ones in their new set - coins+stamps, packaged similar to the Titanic set.
So that's way it will be smart move for CP, and nice collectible item (depends on the coins and the package) for the collectors.
