I first thought this coin was Julia Domna Trace Pautatia, but the gal on this coin does not have the typical Julia Domna's hairdoo that covers her ears. This coin gal has her hair swept behind her ears and hairdoo similar to Julia Mamaea and lesser maybe canidates include Orbiana, Aquilia Severa, Plautilla? Obverse has partial legend = ΙΟVΛΙÎ'Î"Ο-Μ Reverse is a bit of a stumper to me - seated figure with long flowing gown, appears to be some local godess? and is flanked a seven pointed star to her right and another to the left. I really like this gal and would like to get to know here beter. Any assistance with helping to identify this coin would be greatly appreciated and put this hairdoo quandry to rest. Thank you!

to the community I believe it is Julia Mamaea, I not sure of the reverse can't make out much detail there.

There is a neat little book with the Title"Hair-Dressing of Roman Ladies by Lady Evans published circa 1900 and reprinted by Courtney Coffing in 1994. If anyone is interested please let me know and I will make it available here when the rules permit.

Wow. Thank You! I spent a fair amount of time trying to track this girls number down...little did it realize it was BMC 122 . You hit this coin right on the head. The coin is... BMC 122 Julia Mamaea, AE18 of Edessa, Mesopotamia. IOVL MAMAEA CEBACTH, diademed and draped bust right / MHT COL EDECCHNWN, Tyche, wearing turreted crown, mantle and chiton, seated left on square seat, holding fruit; small flaming altar before her, star in both upper fields, additional altar to right. BMC Mesopotamia, 122 (same obv. die).

The pages are not numbered but there are 4 plates illustrating 81 different coins which are described in the text. The books belong to my father-in-law who is in his 90's now and wants to unload them. I don't want to break the forum rules here so this is just a sneak peek at the book which I will offer here later if there is any interest.

I did purchase the coin off of e-bay. The green patina is not as lovely as it appears in the pictures and I really do not see much at all. I believe is to due to the magnification of the coin to show its detail, lens filter...i don't know? I noticed a lot of this seller's coins has what it appears to be a lovely dark green looking patina, but not at all like that in hand. That said...he seller does have some very nice coins and I was very pleased with this purchase, the detail on the coin, and does have a nice chocolate patina with a very slight twinge of green. I would purchase from this seller again, not bid up to the same levels, expecting to get a great green patina coins as depicted on the photographs.
I received another coin from this seller that appeared in the pictures to have a great green patina and the same thing...brown chocolate patina with a slight maybe green patina...nice coin with nice detail...don't buy if you are looking for a great green patina coin...and do not overpay...if this is what you are looking for....I am a live and learn person...and my time is too short to moan and groan about a purchase...but from what I have learned on e-bay if the coins has a wonderfurl green patina...and it looks too good to be true...it is..I would not expect any the coins listed on this sellers site to have any green patina.
So hard to buy nice coins at a reasonable price from a seller who just loves the coins for the art and history that spark the imigination...The US coin collector is almost non-existient...due to dealers scamming collectors for decades any every got tired and left...no one cares anymore...
Thank you for posting the hairdoos reference. It appears very interesting This will be nice for coin identification on the
