Hello all,
I picked up a roll of BU 1955-S Roosevelt dimes at a good price. I went through them and most were quite decent: definitely uncirculated, not too many bagmarks, and good luster. I didn't find any high-grade or full-torch candidates, but this one dime stood out. It has the strongest die clashing I've ever seen on this type. About 75% of Mr. Roosevelt's portrait is clearly outlined on the reverse! The effect reminds me of those drastic clash marks you see on many Type II gold dollars from 1854 and 1855. I was under the impression that by 1955 strong clash errors were pretty scarce. Has anyone else seen clashing like this on Roosevelt dimes?

it is a die clash. but they are not scarce. I have seen them on 07 coins. so it is just something that I would call normal minting. your dime has a nice clash on the rev. I think that the die had been swapped out or you would have the rev and obv clash. nice find but as far as I know there are no premiums on clashes unless you can find someone that is very interested in them in that case you never know where it will go.
