In the end it did not work out, although the rep told me to take it to the bank, I took it to TD, TD refused to take it, spoke to the rep, said all banks but TD take it (changed it) then I took it to RBC, they made me wait an hour or so, even spoke to rep then, and then a rep told me to return it and sent me shipping labels. I am EXTREMELY annoyed of the mint now, completely unprofessional, something I would least expect from a government owned company, I don't plan on getting anything from the mint anymore and returning most of my recent purchases except for the low mintage COA I received.

R4mn33k, I know for a fact that one RBC in the Metro Vancouver area takes these back, but only for RBC clients, do you bank at RBC? also is this in a major city or a rural area?

It's definitely a bummer that you wasted so much time being given the run around, R4mn33k However, as folks know well, I expect no less from a government owned company ( Crown Corporation)!

I am in brampton, and not a RBC client, thats why I went to TD as thats where my account is, but at TD the mint rep (I called in) said to go to RBC as they have some process in place, so I did so, but at RBC they did not take the masters club # from me and said first they need to contact their head office and then call the mint from the number they have access to, can't take a number from me. After that they refused me.

I went to main RBC in Calgary I have no account and cashed in 10 bison coins for $1000 in and out 15 minutes no problems at all. And I bring my crappy 20 for 20's to Timmy's and put them on a debit card for coffee's

Now that's impressive Elk, I wouldn't of thought Tim's would take them in Alberta. I know SSP Ottawa has mentioned buying beer & pizza with them. However, I imagined big city ont. to be much more aware of these coins. I felt out west no one would be exposed to the mints promotional angle. Was it in Calgary or red deer, they have a large population? I like hearing the stories, where people successfully used them as money! I wonder with banks turning them back to the mint, will in time the collecting population shrink for these coins. I would think the mint melts them, once they are returned.

The RBC Main Branch on Georgia/Burrard in Vancouver will take them. You could also use them as money in the Mint Store on Granville Street.

I received my sheep coin today, and I'm very impressed with it. After I get my orders sorted out and return coins I don't want, I'm going to get another. The last two coins are richly detailed and a pleasure to look at. I'm thoroughly enjoying these 2 coins. Even the polar bear fifty has nice details. I hope they can keep up the quality of these coins in the future. I just don't understand why they don't issue them with a clamshell, it costs the same to ship the?. I doubt the clamshell costs that much more to produce.
