I got mine a couple of days ago. The coins are very nice looking, and as they are 100/4/100 - the case doesn't matter to me. Fact is, I remember a time - back in the 70's (god I feel old) you had the option to purchase the coins, and pay EXTRA for the case. I would gladly take a discount - if I could opt out of the cases. I have a plastic crate in my attic that is nothing but empty 'clam-shell' and other boxes from Mint coins.

^^^ Me also, have a big Rubbermaid filled with boxes and sleeves and what not.....
Gotta hold on to them tho, because if you ever decide to sell will be a lot easier

Question, how are you guys storing the coins, if they're not in original packaging? All mine are in original packaging.

without the clam-shell cases, I can fit a lot of coins in my safety deposit box. (where I keep the gold coins and some of my silvers) Others are in the 'light-house' cases (like this one: http://www.lighthouse.us/WebRoot/St...es//2279.jpg )- each tray will hold 20 coins. They look more impressive all together then opening up individual boxes every time you want to view them.

@ soldifier what is the quality of the case? I've looked at those a few times. I wish there were more photos of it. Do you have any photos of your case to share? I really like the wood and it's color! Also the navy interior, it's a very nice back drop for the coins. I also like the cases Steve Bromberg uses on the coin show. They too are very attractive.

@Pocket change:
I have similar cases (sorry, can make pictures and post only tomorrow), the quality is very good. No issues. Smells wood. I have the ones, where all the cells similar (20+20+20)
There is another type of the same case - where the trays (2 of 3) do not have wooden frame - they bit cheaper, but imo - less preferable.

I will look forward to tomorrow's photos then. I truly appreciate your response. Items like these I like to know details before I buy. It's then one the C A doesn't do a great job on. It's alright for new coin releases where you can get the details from respective mint. However, details on their coin supplies could be much better.

I've come close to buying one of these cases a couple times so I could take everything out of the clams heck cases. I couldn't make up my mind whether I wanted the box that held 60 2x2 capsules or the one that held 60 different airtite capsules. I also had concerns about the quality. I'm starting to think the better way to go would be the square 2x2 capsules that will accommodate any sized coin and the 60 2x2 case. I wonder if there is there much difference in the Lighthouse case and the Numis case Colonial sells as far as quality is concerned ?

Just for quick and not detailed response: Quote: I'm starting to think the better way to go would be the square 2x2 capsules that will accommodate any sized coin and the 60 2x2 case That was mine first approach to store "Wild Life" Bullion 6 coins, and here big disadvantages: *They not air tite - for this reason, or other, 6 coins that were stored in the square capsules, covered not only by milk spots, but also by "white fogged area" close to edge of the coin. **Visually, the square shape "eats" the beauty of the round coin. So for me it didn't work good. But, I think, this is the perfect way to store circulation world coins, and not silver NCLT. @Lucv: your SD collection in the box looks very impressive.

I don't change my capsules to the square ones. I just leave my coins in their original capsule, and place them in the square openings in the box. Yes, they shuffle around a bit, but it's nicer to pick up the Original capsule then the square ones... often the square ones will come apart...and as noted above - they are NOT air-tite.

That exactly what I am doing, while having the same box as Lucv has.

OK,thanks guys... well that's settled ! So it will be a the 60 coin presentation case for 2x2 square holders that I will buy. I just find that I have too many clam shell boxes around and it would be good to have everything together in a case.
I wonder if Lucv13's case is a Lighthouse or another brand that is sold by Colonial Acres ? The Colonial Acres case looks similar to the Lighthouse case.
