I am working on an exhibit featuring several of the Canadian silver dollars in my collection, including the 2008 SD that marked the 400th anniversary of Quebec City.

I am looking for the final mintage figures for the BU, Proof and Gold-plated versions of the SD. The most recent version of Charlton that I have is the 2011 version and it basically lists the maximum mintages allowed vs. actual final mintages. It lists 65,000 for the proof and 35,000 for the BU.

I've also checked the RCM's Annual Reports for 2008 and 2009 and am coming up blank.

Does anyone have a more recent Charlton (or other source) with final figures?

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

The 2014 Charlton says:
Proof 65,000
Proof w/ gold 38,630
BU 35,000
That may indicate they sold out so the actual mintage = the maximum mintage?

@kuh_85: Thanks for checking the 2014 Charlton; the numbers match the 2011 edition. I suppose the BU and Proof could both have sold out...but I'm not 100% convinced just yet!

@ Commems will you post photos of your display of Silver Dollars? I'd enjoy seeing a complete display of silver dollar!! It wil give me display ideas and something to strive for. I struggle with how to display my coins, so I end up just keeping them in their clamshell and rotating 1 a week to look at. I know you must have some brilliant ideas!!

I checked the annual reports for 2008 and 2009. The 2008 report lists a proof set with mintage of 38,264 and a Brilliant Uncirculated dollar of of 383. No mention of the proof single at all. Both the other $1 issues, the RCM Centennial and Poppy, are listed by name. The 2009 report lists the proof dollar for 2008 to have a total mintage of 27,549. It also lists an additional number of units sold for the 2008 proof set of 366. Brilliant Uncirculated 2008 had an additional sale of 363. Could these be the numbers, or do they pertain to other coins?

@pocket_change_50 Did you see this other thread on re-purposing the RCM wood display boxes by custom cutting craft foam to create your own insert holder? https://goccf.com/t/174070

@Opera12mi: Thanks for taking the time to check out the RCM's annual reports, you've come across the same "missing data" issues that I found. (BTW: the 27,549 mintage figure you mentioned is for the 2009 proof set vs. the 2008 proof dollar single.)

I guess I will have to go with the Charlton figures confirmed by kuh_85 for my exhibit card.

I don't actually display my silver dollar collection. I keep the individual coins (in their capsules) in coin trays put out by Lighthouse. I will try to get a good image of one and show you what I mean.

I am currently working on an exhibit for my local coin show. I am doing an exhibit on coins and stamps related to French exploration and settlement of Canada. For each of the coins included, I make up an info card to allow viewers to learn about the coins I present.

Here's a sample of one of the cards I am working on (the green highlights note that I'm still waiting to confirm the numbers).
