I only ordered the third bank note coin. All the other coins I need can wait until a sale comes along.

Same for me, I can wait for a sale!! I like the crystal flower, salmon the banknote (need) for series, cowboy, and the five Oz. however, none are priority over summer!! I promised myself no buying until I pay for previous purchases.

Looks like we have two major groups: one waits for sales - when the current coins will be outdated, and hence will be discounted, while other group loads multiple orders for the same coin.
at the bottom line - Mints are happy

Nice find. I was interested in the RCM offering but seeing there is a bullion version, I will go for it rather than the proof. Quite frankly, I would be "upset" if I had ordered the $100 coin to find out there is a similar bullion coin. http://www.apmex.com/product/82645/...ve-blessings

well I ordered the 75th anniversary of WWII silver dollar, and being in the Navy, I would love to get the 10oz silver one where they are sailing away, but there is just no way that I can afford another 800$ coin right now... especially after getting the donald duck gold one. The majestic moose kinda attract me since I got the first one in the serie, but once again, money is an issue! gotta know when to stop I guess... maybe I should try and sell my bear so that I have mainly coins that I really care about... I bought the bear, but I think that because it was one of my first, it might have been more an impulse buy...

Is there a cheap silver-plated version of the Butterfly like last year?

Quote: Is there a cheap silver-plated version of the Butterfly like last year? No. At least not yet. There is a new collection called "Insects of Canada". In reality it is just a bundle of the 2014 Butterfly, Caterpillar and Dragonfly coins for exactly the same cost as buying them separately. There is no indication of any special packaging so I'd assume you get the three coins in clamshells for the aggregate price of $249.85. In what world would anyone consider that a 'collection'?

You have to decide, what is more "closer" to you: *Some bear, that RCM issued not a few of them recently *Purely marketing issue - Donald Duck (IMO - for collection silver coin is enough) *The Navy, that you gave your mind and soul and dedicated a years to this service. But, yes, if you will buy the 10oz and it will not be popular, you might stuck with very expensive coin, that has the meaning to you only.

I'm kinda hoping that the navy coin will go down in price... unfortunately, with a mintage of 1000, I kinda doubt it... :-/ but if I could find a buyer for my gold polar bear, that wouldn't be a bad trade off!

The first few issues of the RCM's WWI program were attractive and affordable. The new 10-ounce silver coin is attractive but not at a price point at which I would consider purchasing. It's a shame that the RCM doesn't consistently offer the designs found on its large-size "coins" or high-cost gold/platinum coins on more affordable silver coins. I don't think it would dramatically cut the sales of the high-dollar pieces - some collectors will still be attracted to the "exclusivity" of their lower mintages. I believe it would actually increase their overall bottom-line as more collectors would buy the sub-$100 silver coins. For example, I would not pay the RCM's asking price of almost $3K for the platinum version of the "Lifelong Mates" Bald Eagle coin even though I liked the design. I happily purchased the silver version that followed later, however, for $90. They sold thousands more of the silver coin than they did the platinum and likely doubled their profits on the design.

Just my opinion (so worth what you've paid for it) but I would be shocked if the 10oz doesn't sell out fast and appreciate in the secondary market. It's a unique coin, well designed and low mintage.
I'm sure there are easily 1000 collectors out there that can pop $900 plus for such a coin. However, I am not one of them. I still have the 1998 10oz SML on my wish list and current prices are less than the latest 10oz offering.
BTW, the mint has 294 of the new coin left.
That all said, the 1/2 kilo wolf is a better deal based on PM. Had the Navy coin been similarly priced (about $700), I would have jumped all over it.

Sell Donald, buy 10oz Almost same mintage (right?) , but much more beautiful and detailed coin. Anyway looks like NZ Mint will pump out the quantity of Disney coins (see other forum). But, RCM is smart - after this release, they MIGHT issue Silver Dollar or 1oz coin same design as 10oz.

@Silveroid what do you mean by NZ mint will pump out the quantity of Disney coins? Can you link the other forum? I haven't seen anything with regards to that.
As for the disney, granted, they do not match with my "military theme" but I really like them... I got both gold now, and I'm actually considering getting the silver ones too... but from what I gathered, it seems like it's the end of the serie anyway... the next ones to come out will be another serie... so I dunno...
i think i'd rather sell my iconic polar bear instead... There is no way that I'm gonna be able to keep getting a serie where each coin is over 2.5K. I thought I could at first, but now I can see that is just irrealistic... even if there is only one/year.
as for the navy one, I totally agree with commems. I would prefer it if it was a bit smaller and more affordable... I'm still pretty new to coin collecting, and honestly, the big (huge) sized coins don't appeal me as much. I love the design, but I feel at that size, it's not really a coin anymore.
