Happy CANADA Day - Bonne FĂȘte du CANADA to all Canadian coin lovers out there!

@ Electrum
Thank you so much for your post! Your words are very much appreciated by this loyal Canadian Moose.

Now here is a coin design I really think is worthy of paying homage to those who served in World War I (Sorry for the unavoidable cut-off at the right):

I'm in trouble now !
Wifey found my July catalog from RCM and asked me to order her the Red Trillium with Swarovski crystals....she says it's beautiful and wants to start her own coin collection.
This woman knows how to spend money and this could be the start of something really nasty ! lol
Anyway I ordered it for her and told her that there are 4 other flower coins from other years she could collect.
The big question is if this is a 1 time deal that she will forget about or the start of something ?

Do not force her into this.
I've seen not a few people, that saw the come coins of the collection and decided, that they also have to start collect. But this was impulsive decision, and since it didn't come from the "soul", they didn't really wanted to collect, to know, and to follow, but just to own some nice pieces. Specially their interest went down, when they saw, that every such piece priced in average $100.

Thank you commems - enjoy 4th of July.

R4mn33k - look on Mint site tomorrow - all July coins to go public tomorrow - what are your (and other's) thoughts on the Native Salmon coin?

I like the 2nd Explorers coin...really starting to warm up to this series.

NuMoose - I very much like the Expeditionary coin...Moose on!!

Sherwooddavid - that's great that the wifey wants to start with the flower coins...the Trillium coin will display beautifully.

Hope all are enjoying Canada Day -

I got the booklet already was hoping for a special Canada day release but I guess not. The salmon coin was the one I liked the most but the price $75 for 1/2oz silver and 10000 mintage I dont think it will increase in value (so didnt bother trying to get a low coa) but I will get it if I can find it at a lower discounted price. I still have 2 20% off TSC coupons that I can use

I think, overpriced hologram-coin....but, nicely crafted, the colours are alive, and the design not trivial.
I bought it, as per first nations design, couldn't afford 5oz coins (hoarded too many these ugly 2oz's from Perth)

In regards to today's official public July releases, specifically the latest bank note coin - the lion - I am having a real struggle with staying the course with this series.
I have the first two coins and as much as the lion coin is a solid duplicate from the original bank note - its still just that - a copy from a dated bank note...so why am I collecting this series?

Shouldn't be it a copy?
IMO, this all the series about - to put the banknote design to the coin, fully, or just the major elements.

Appreciation of the artwork presented?

I believe this particular series appeals to those who enjoy the intricate details of engraved artwork of the 19th and 20th centuries and enjoy having the coins to go along with their paper money (and/or stock certificate) collections.

Do you collect any engraved fiscal paper from this time period?

commems is quite right about those who find these coins appealing. I'm one of them.

By the way, the July coins are now available to "regular" folks on the mint's website.

I agree with Commems, I love the artwork on these coins, I cannot afford to collect the banknotes. However, I do have the first two coins and I'll wait to find this new one for a discount. I've spent way too much on coins this year, and need to sell some older less personally desirable coins. Some coins I have multiples of so need to turn these into cash first.
