Quote: Im not sure if this is what you mean but a PCGS MS-62 is aUnc is Australian standards. This is often quoted but I am not sure why. An MS coin has no wear. My comment earlier was about the aUNC grade. If APCGS grade using the Australian Standard, how does the AU range work ? aUNC in ANDA standards is one grade, but APCGS have 3 AU grades. AU50, AU55 and AU58 ? The other grades, I can understand as we have the 'about' grades, and the 'good' grades.

As discussed in that thread, all those coins are uncirculated by Australian standards. Your diagnosis that the coin was worn was based on your inability to differentiate between a weak strike and wear. Instead of arguing with 'what-if's and 'should-be's, find me an actual example.

That coin was purchased from an internet based ANDA dealer, as an UNC coin (raw) by my friend. We submitted this coin to PCGS, so I've SEEN the coin, in the flesh under a bright light. 2 graders at PCGS have also seen the coin in the hand (not an image) and have concluded that there was no wear. You highlighted points on that coin where there was lack of detail based on that photo, and lowered the grade because of that?

Coinaus, in the interests of eliminating bias, if you don't mind me asking, are you a grader/owner of APCGS? Do you sell APCGS graded coins on ebay?

+3 for a few days now, and it seems to me (as a spectator) that there may be a little bias on one side of the argument.

No I don't sell APCGS coins on ebay or the owner or a grader but an AUSTRALIAN who would be happy to support Australian companies if I had to. Have I used them, no. Will I use them, Yes. I have won some free grading from them in a facebook competition which I will be sending my items in shortly. Quote: I've done a little comparison table: I think you might need to do some more research. Longevity - I guess they can't do anything about that since they have been around I'm guessing 3 yrs? 2.5yrs longer than what people thought in this forum but bigger than the two prior Australian attempts combined. Expertise - Who the heck knows what they do, obvious no ANA courses in Australia since they are the sole traders. Problem coins - I've seen them for sale on facebook and they are listed as a "details" grade. You are saying that fakes have been graded as genuine, what, you don't think this has happened numerous times with the others. Well guess what it has, before they even brought in a money back system (which in my understanding does not cover the fakes that had been slabbed prior to them bringing in it). I guessing APCGS is leaning towards that now as they have put into place a $1 per $1000 compulsory insurance protection on coins so you would expect in the future a full cover like the other two grading companies. All I know is they have been very helpful when I ask them questions regarding my coins on FB and they do donate a lot of free gradings to help out the fb forum as well as the "sell for a well" charity. I think they need to be congratulated in having a go in a tough market like this one and with what they have announced they are doing this financial year, I think they will be still operating in years to come.

I've come up with a GREAT idea Perhaps they could get one of their buddies to post some positive comments about them on one of the internet coin forums! Sure beats bowling!

wow, there is so much negativity on the Australian forum and not surprising why it doesn't seem to grow in numbers
