BSC is having a sale for grading banknotes at the special rate of $7 per note (minimum 10). Normally you need to submit 50 notes to get the $7 rate. The regular rate is $10 (minimum 10).

The promotion is for July and August.

I personally don't think it's worth getting a banknote graded unless it's worth at least $200, or for your own curiosity.

I never sent a note to BCS or any other grading service. To those who use BCS, how long does it take to get back your banknote?

Also, how is the pricing of BCS compared to PMG? How much is it per banknote from PMG? I looked at their website and it is confusing.

@twoplustwo

I agree. I have 1 Devil's Hair $1 Gem BU and 1 Devil's Hair $2 Gem BU. I will have to look up what sigs are on the notes but both are worth north of $200 each.

You're looking at roughly $20 (US) per note via PMG, plus insured shipping, plus potential hassle with customs. On top of that, you either need to submit via an authorized PMG dealer, submit notes by becoming a paid member of the "PMG Collectors Society" or by being an active member of the American Numismatic Association ( ANA). BCS is in my opinion the preferred service for individual Canadians.

PMG has a tiered system for pricing. Economy is $30/ for notes valued under $1000.

$1000 - $3000 are $45/note

$3000 - $10000 are $80/note

Anyway grading costs continue to scale up as the note value increases. I've had about 100+ notes (majority chartered)graded through PMG through an authorized dealer. J&M coins is one I think. The grading seems generous compared to BCS or CCCS. I do like the look of the PMG holder and the newer more durable CCCS holder is okay now too. There is just something about the look of the BCS holder that puts me off, but I'll still buy them and cut the note out to resubmit somewhere else. :)
