A nice find, although not extremely rare. I found a total of four with three like the first picture, and a fourth, second picture. They where all found in the same roll.

Hey DD,
Those are really cool. I'm not too interested in all those minor repunchings and doublings where all you see is a split serif. Your coins have the mintmark displaced by about half the width of the D, which makes them pretty spectacular.
Beautiful pictures, too!

very nice find DD
#1 coin looks like 1960D-1MM-023 and would run between 6-7 bucks. looks like a nicer coin than what Chuck has on the site.
#2 looks like the 1960D-1MM-013 and would run around 5 bucks.
congrats DD

I found these in rolls we put back in the 80's and put back from collection we found.
garylcsr, thanks for the info, and I agree with you on the variety designations.

Very nice pics of some really neat rpm, I don't really look for them myself, too busy with my Indian Head cents. I have a friend new to coin collecting that has decided she would like to collect Lincoln Cent errors and varieties. How common are these rpms really, I gave her my copy of the RPM book and her first Lincoln rpm I bought from Mike Ellis. I have a Hugh apple cider jug that used to belong to my wife's father filled with thousands of cents he put in everyday after work. I think she should be able to find a few in there, hope to get her to join this forum, looks like she could find a lot of help here.

Is there some kind of listing with values on rpms? I see them on ebay a lot, and wasn't sure how they are priced.

Later,

Since I sell on ebay I look over the completed auctions to see what a certain coin sells for. Also, many of the ebay guides can give good information on most coins.

RPMs are found on many Lincoln Cents from the 1909S dated coins, right on up to coins of the 1970s and 1980s. The date range that appears to have created the most RPMs is the late fifties and the early sixties. I think there are more than 100 different 1960 D RPM varieties and a similar number for 1961 D RPMs.

In the overall scheme of things, they are not rare as a group but individual and particular RPMs can be extremely rare.
