Thank you for all of your comments (both photography and coin related).

The cover of that Helfenstein catalogue looks superb.
Westcoins idea is a good one - I will see what I can do to find a suitable
background, which also helps highlight the various shades of copper toning.

In the meantime, I am trying to figure out how to use/set up the macro function on the Canon PowerShot SX200. I know this sounds basic to many of you, but I have not dedicated much thought to coin photography all these years. I cannot seem to find the manual for assistance, and was not able to find one in the web either...

You've got the coins and the artistic eye I believe. Maybe use some Large Cent books, Old time props, like the magnifying glass, ink well and pen, etc. I tried my hand at shooting piles of Gold and silver coins back in the film days some came out pretty cool, but I can't find the old prints or negatives, If I come up with them as I sort through my storage units I will be sure to post them. They were taken as I was just getting into photography and really had no clue as to what I was doing, but I remember a few shots were pretty neat.
