I search for copper and separate things out between the '81 and prior, 1982, Canadian, and Wheat backs. I just finished with a very peculiar box of pennies. I was washed out of both Canadian and Wheat backs. Never had such a thing happen before. It's probably the luck of the draw but it sure is odd. Normally I've been finding between 20 and 30 of these coins in a box.
Same thing happened to me recently, I do nickel boxes and have always found at least nine good coins per box on average. I got two boxes of customer wrapped rolls recently and found nothing in one box, and hardly anything in the second, definitely not the norm for me. But on to the next few boxes and everything is good again. Just part of the game I suppose. You could have gotten someone else's dump. Just happens sometimes.
Yeah, this has happened to me. I remember when I did a box of cents and someone marked all the rolls when the year minted and by mint mark. They were only post 1981.
I should have mentioned that the box that I was searching was not CWR but rolls that were put together by Brinks.
The other unusual happening with this box was that I only found 2 2009 Lincoln cents. I usually find about 10 of these coins per box. To me the overall count was very different.
Speaking of strange happenings / markings while CRH, I was doing a box of Halves, and someone actually wrote "CRH" with red sharpie, in big letters, right across JFK's portrait! I should have took a picture of that one...
