First time post, but long time lurker. I've learned lots from all the discussions and I thank you all for the shared information. I'm still trying to learn more all the time.
I bought this coin a while ago, and was wondering if the mark beside the tailbar is a strikethrough? And while we're here, guesses on grade and value? Thanks for your time.

Looks like a VAM 4, Fine(ish). Prices realized are all over the board. So complete stab in the dark... about $150(again, 'ish).

Nice coin!
Rest in Peace

I'm thinking the line next to the tailbar is just a scratch based on the photo posted.

Thanks guys for all the help. I think its a great coin and its going to be passed down to my children eventually. I noticed the scratch and it actually looks like missing material. Do you think its worthwhile getting graded or just enjoy in 2x2?
Rest in Peace

2 x 2 for sure. Grading by a TPG at that value is just tossing money away. Spend it on another coin.

Dave's 100% right. Don't give the pirates a penny at that grade.

Since nobody else has said it yet, welcome.

Your Morgan might sneak in at F12, but I think there'd likely be some penalty (either a "details" annotation or a bump down in grade) for the prominent marks on and in front of Liberty's face. I concur that this isn't one to slab. Still a cool coin.

a very nice and obvious TOP100 VAM! No need to have it graded or certified, it is what it is, any VAM collector would know it[s a real one at first glance, one of the obvious VAMs where no magnification is needed to identify it.

Nice worn tailbar. Keep it raw. The obverse scratch may bring a details grade.
