Sorry for the poor quality of pictures. Hoping someone could tell me if I've got a Type 1 or Type 2. Purchased with a bunch of other low-grade SLQ's for melt (All others had dates).

Thanks.

That is a type 2.

On the reverse: a type 2 has stars below the eagle. The type 1 does not have stars below the eagle.

Type 2. Easily distinguishable by the stars under the flying eagle.

Haha, didn't know there was such an obvious difference. I was thinking it was the subtle difference in the length of the drapes and their relation to the ankle. I now realize that that's the difference between a 1916 and 1917. Thanks for your help.

I don't remember the details, but I believe there are ways/markers to tell a 1916 from a 1917 type 1

Type 2, so your coin was minted in the 1917-1924 range.

The 1925s and beyond were minted with a recessed date (that keeps the date normally visible even with a bunch of wear) versus a pedestal date (1917-1924) that had the date wearing off fairly rapidly.
