Wow, you have to be rich to be a collector of coins from the RCM these days... It's sad, I have 3 kids and I have to put this hobby on the shelf because even if I want to get a subscription for the 5 oz, 4 coins in a year is to much... They should put this series on 3 years! With the "back to school" and this huge september release from the RCM, guess where I put my money?

At least with this series of 5 oz. coins has a iconic design, and probably sell out, it's amazing speaking to a rep, they are apparently overwhelmed with orders ever month, kind of surprising. I guess most of the last few years issuance are still in dealer stocks

I'm not surprised a rep would claim such a thing. But lets me honest for second, when was the last time there was a sell out? In past few years a sell was real where as now a sell out ( if there is one ) just means Canadapost has them all or silverotwne ordered them.
I guess we'll find out when they release their annual earnings report for the year.

Exactly. A sales guy giving you the real story? Not putting a positive spin on things? That about as rare as Bigfoot riding a unicorn.

5oz sets with the quantity of 300 will be easily sold-out. great collector's item (I will agree with the people, saying that imo, the classic BU / Proof design is better than gilded).
Even with high price, many could afford it...the Mint should make them 1.000 and spread over 3 years.

I am confused with the 5oz big coins. Why are there only 350 sets of them when they are making 1500 copies of each coin? Can't you buy them individually as they come out and get all 6?
or is the 350 set number based on only 350 boxes? And the boxes serialized out of 350.

Most likely, there is no common COA for the set (but could be - actually I do expect some paper with the set), and the box is not numbered. But if you will subscribe, you'll get a free box (and their quantity is 350) and might be some some paper, as in the F15 Sub. Plus, and it most important, with the sub you guaranteed to get your coins. The set (like "Farewell to Penny") and set-subscription (like "Go7") are different entities.

Quote: This is not a new. All subscriptions follow the same models. What's new is they specify the number of boxes to be sold at start. I've never seen this before as we could subscribe to the sub or buy the individual, but the mintage was listed at the same. Go7 mintage was 7,500 for the individual coin and 7,500 for the sub, but we didn't knew how much boxes were to be released. My guess is they were selling subs for a specified amount of time with no limit so a lot of boxes could be ordered. This time it's different as you already know that no more than 350 boxes will be made, and this is exactly why I subscribed myself. If the 350 mintage for the sub wasn't indicated, I wouldn't have subscribed.

After seeing the design, I concur with most that they would be better if they had have been done in a finish like the annual proof set.
Not too excited about this subscription....may get the $1 and $2.

Emily Carr series is sold out. The mint has only 85 sets and 15 sets go to the dealers. Dealers most likely will keep the set.
The 5 oz 350 sets will sell out no later than early tomorrow.

I seem to be in the minority here but I like the gold accent look of the 5 oz coins. I think the gold accenting will make the coins stand out. Just a proof finish is too plain - they would just look like a oversized quarter loonie, twonnie, etc. I plan to subscribe to the series since I will be getting most of them anyway. People say they are too expensive but they have no trouble paying $750+tax for a 14K gold coin the size of a quarter.

Emily Carr's 3 coins set is too much for flippers to invest then to sell on ebay. $5700 for 1oz Platinum Coin + 1oz Gold Coin + 1oz Silver Coin. But it is a nice collection for collector.

Actually, it's more about the whole series to be released in 12 months that I find a bit expensive for collectors. 550$ per coin is a fair price IMO for 5oz silver gold-gilded coins, but having to throw 3,300$ for one series in a 12 month period is a lot!

Yes, but most subscriptions are finished within a year. That is nothing new. Except for the Lunar New Year coins which for obvious reasons is once per year. And $3300 is not too bad if you consider some people buy one single coin like the Kilo Silver coin for $2500. Plus the cost is spread over several months instead of one shot like the $2500 Kilo coins.
