This happens with lower value coins all the time too. My first coin I bought on
ebay (just a few months ago) came in a coin flip with "GEM BU" written on it. It was a fantastic probably MS-64 WLH. Assuming this was the norm, I bid and won a
Franklin half labelled "GEM GEM BU++" and "Key Date" on the 2x2. It turned out to be a XF coin at best that may have been cleaned. Looking at the sellers other auctions, I saw EVERY coin they listed, said "GEM BU++" and "KEY DATE". Fortunately that was only a $10 mistake to teach me to look CLOSELY at the coin. But I'm sure a lot of rookies have to get taken advantage of a time or two before they realize
ebay is full of people with no conscience. Fortunately there are a lot of good dealers on
ebay, too, but you have to be careful.
