It's taken a while but I'm finally posting our first Eliasberg pedigree in the thread.

So from what I can tell there was a book titled Early United States Dimes, 1796-1837: A Reference Book of Their Types, Varieties, and Rarity that was published in 1984 and it appears to be very hard to come by these days with copies typically selling for more than $300. The book was co-authored by by David Davis, Allen Lovejoy and William Subjack.

Apparently this coin was one of the plate coins used in this book.

I really like the look of this coin although there are a number of higher grade TrueView images for this variety. In choosing this one I came across a pedigree that I did not recognize. A few google searches revealed that the pedigree is that of Bill Walser and from what I can tell he was a recent collector that had done very well in the PCGS registry area. It appears he passed away earlier this year.

While looking for more information about him I came across this article by Mark Furguson about pedigrees and I found it interesting, and thought provoking.

If you have a thirst for knowledge and history, this sure is a great hobby to embrace.
