Note: Only 92 proofs were coined at Philadelphia this year.

I really like the contrast between the devices and fields, you can easily tell this is proof from across the room.

Note: Trade dollars dated 1884 and 1885 were struck secretly at the US Mint, there is no record of them in mint records. John Haseltine announced in 1908 that these were found in his father-in-law's collection.

Second note: According to the pedigree info on the CoinFacts link above this coin originally had golden toning but as these pictures show it has been stripped.
