chequer Pillar of the Community Canada 4227 Posts	Posted 10/03/2014 5:45 pm I'm liking what's happening with this coin a lot. Could this die have lasted much longer? Is the doubling from a doubled die or is it from the Die Deterioration? The doubling on the date didn't show up as much as I hoped, but it was the first thing I noticed on this small coin (getting used to closeups with the iPhone). Report this Post to the Staff

Sir Popalot New Member United States 9 Posts	Posted 10/04/2014 4:38 pm The coin is a real doubled die error. The pronounced notching present on the letters is a dead giveaway. As for the die cracks, the dies were definitely deteriorating, but I think that they still had a bit more life left in them before they failed completely. Report this Post to the Staff

Been searching for DD's/errors most of my life, researched and read a book or two with comparison photos of DD's and HD, even found some. Agree with Sir Popalot and Chequer concerning the die cracks.
