1973-D Lincolns Jacket Is Torn?

Check this out....it must be common because I found two so far in 73d and one in 75d. Lincolns left side lapel is missing and part of his shirt. The two 73's show what looks like a progression of decay.

Very common, sometimes it's a worn die, sometimes its die polishing to eliminate clash marks.

Look at cents from 1982, 1983 and 1984 and you'll notice a ton coins like this. It happens for most years, but the dates mentioned are known for a lot of them.

Thanks foundinrolls, I figured it was common and polishing was my guess. Just wanted to be sure before I spend them...LOL.

Much more so than not it's a case of overpolishing. If it were a worn die the entire front of the jacket would be weak.

No...weak, as in you couldn't tell the front of the jacket was there. You still have die overpolishing.
