Okay. I'm still trying to get the hang of taking thses pics. There's with something going on with the date. I think it may be a mechanical die. What do you think?

Lookslike a deteriorated, worn nickel. "Mechanical die" is not a numismatic term. I don't know what you are asking.

I agree, the coin is worn and was initially struck by worn dies. That compounds the flattened worn out look of the date.

I think you mean Mechanical Doubling. Mechanical die , as Charles says, is not a term used in numismatics.

Is what I have arrows pointing to what you are talking about? I see something but am not sure what it is.

Yes Yorgy that's what I'm asking about.
I do mechanical die, thank you foundinrolls.

I'm thinking it was a machine shift that caused this
to happen.

So you specifically prefer to use a term that nobody else will understand?

The trails on your coin are die wear.

Lol!! My mistake. I thought I had put Machine Doubling that second time. Thanks for catching that! I've seen those curved marks around the dates on one or two other coins.
How does deterioration cause that? It looks more like there was a shift during the minting process.

Die wear can cause lots of different things. Here is an example of some die wear around the letters.
