The seller may well be unaware the coin is a fake. So far no one here has dissed the seller, the only comments have been about the coin itself. We'll see how he/she responds to our concerns.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

That is a pretty good fake if it is a fake. I would be fooled if I let my guard down a little. The obverse gives off a bad feeling when I saw it the first time, but I'm sure "this coin gives me a funny feeling" is not a valid argument.

most definitely a fake even with the poor pictures, compare with my ICCS graded one. the 8 says it all   |

Ok gentlemen, here are 2 1948 dollars. pleas identify these with the same certainty as you identified the ebay coin in thid post. question: is one of them a fake? if so, please elaborate
are both fakes? if so please explain why

The seller actually answered my request and posted additional pictures. He says he is no expert.
looking at the new images, I suggest it is a authentic low grade 1948.

Still not pics by which I would buy a 1948, but I have to admit the forehead is looking more like the real thing.

I try to avoid judgements when poor images are involved unless my markers jump out at me.
