The seller may well be unaware the coin is a fake. So far no one here has dissed the seller, the only comments have been about the coin itself. We'll see how he/she responds to our concerns.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning... -from PCGS website

That is a pretty good fake if it is a fake. I would be fooled if I let my guard down a little. The obverse gives off a bad feeling when I saw it the first time, but I'm sure "this coin gives me a funny feeling" is not a valid argument.

most definitely a fake even with the poor pictures, compare with my ICCS graded one. the 8 says it all

great read thanks !! do you think this might be exclusive for the 1948 or should we be looking at the 1947`s as well ? for this hairline marker (?) thanks in advance

Ok gentlemen, here are 2 1948 dollars. pleas identify these with the same certainty as you identified the ebay coin in thid post. question: is one of them a fake? if so, please elaborate are both fakes? if so please explain why or is none a fake?

The seller actually answered my request and posted additional pictures. He says he is no expert.
looking at the new images, I suggest it is a authentic low grade 1948.

Still not pics by which I would buy a 1948, but I have to admit the forehead is looking more like the real thing.

it does show the source a bit. just thought I try with the limited resources I have. Nickelguy, what is your opinion on the original ebay coin?

I try to avoid judgements when poor images are involved unless my markers jump out at me.
