So with the price of silver being well under $20.00 has anyone been able to get a Morgan silver dollar for under $20 lately? I just picked up a cleaned cull for $19, it looks better than the empty hole in the folder and I remember buying one that I didn't need for a hole filler for $36 once. I also picked up 3 War Nickels for a buck each, I checked the spot price and I got a nice deal on them, I think Melt Value at the time of Purchase was about $0.9637, so less than 4 cents over melt ! Has anyone else been getting nice deals or are the dealers claiming to not have any on hand *Wink/Wink* Edit - The Morgan was an 1898 from New Orleans, please don't ask for pics she's not too photogenic Edited by ASLAN TVorlon 10/14/2014 01:09 am

I got a Columbus half a couple months back for $7, which was 12 cents above spot at the time.

I haven't ever seen a silver dollar in the junk boxes around here. I did get a Standing Liberty quarter that had a 26 partial date though for 3.75 Saturday. I was pretty happy. He had a bunch of dateless ones in there for the same price mixed with the silver washingtons. His store can be in total chaos a lot though so I could have been missing his silver dollar culls. Last time he had a bunch of loose wheat pennies, Buffalo nickels and some Canadian silver dimes all over his counter. Reminded me of my bedroom. I was going to get a common candian dime but he wanted the same amount for one as his American junk silver dimes. Didn't have the heart to argue it was only 80% so I just passed without questioning him haha.

Don't tell the wife but I bought 7 Morgans for $130 this weekend, all common but I filled 3 holes. Guy was asking 7/$160 on craigslist....

I bet I could get a tarnished maple leaf at my pawn shop for spot. He has a standing offer to sell it to me one at that price. But it looked tarnished as a 80 year old coin like someone buried it. He tests for fakes with acid so might be a ok deal now that I think about it.

Well circulated common date morgans (no culls) sell in my neck of the woods for $16-$20. Not many available with silver as low as it is.

I checked my other LCS and they have loads of low grade cull for $22.90 and high grade for $26 I asked him how low silver would have to fall before they dropped the prices on them to $20.00, he said $14.00 But I did come up with a couple of Canadian Halves for $8.00 each, not too bad but I think if he had realized they were 80% it would have been more, the sales slip he wrote up said "50% Canadian" They are really bad on prices.

Yeah seems like it. I can get 90% Walking Liberty halves for like $6.80 here. I thought my pawn shop was crazy for selling a 40% for 5.40.

I was at a pawnshop recently and asked what they were charging for their junk 90%. The guy replied $18 times $1 face. I didn't buy anything that day!
