The D and S coins in the silver set sound more like matte proofs than uncirculated coins. That's fine by me. I bet the last silver business silver strike in the RedBook remains the 1976-S.

I was going to post that but is says nothing about the D being any different from the regular uncirc
Other than, you know, it being silver and not clad.

I just receive a second set I decided to order. This set is near flawless! No what to do with the original set. It is either going in the Dansco or go up for sale in the future.

Excellent.

If I were in that situation (having two sets, one being less pristine than the other), I would most certainly consider consigning the lesser set to the Dansco.

On Monday, the US Mint will apparently lift the household limit on the silver and clad sets. I honestly hope both will sell out.
I just received an e-mail from the mint announcing it.

I ordered a 2nd set myself right after it went to backorder. I figured I should just because.....no real reason. I will either cut it out of the package or possibly sell if they go up enough in value.

Well, I received my set today that replaced the set I had to send back for quality control issues and I'm very pleased to report that they are super nice.....as proof coins should be directly from the mint.

I have been hearing of the S-minted enhanced silver Kennedy is having some QC problems. The issue is that many of the coins are more Proof-Like that Enhanced.

I inspected the 3 sets I have and 1 is almost Proof-Like, 1 appears to be almost Enhanced, maybe 80% (I haven't seen others in-person than the ones I have)and the last one appears to be about 50% Enhanced. None of mine have the Enhanced quality found on the 2013W Enhanced ASE.

Have any others heard or experienced this QC issue with their 2014D silver Kennedy?

Long time reader, first post.....

Half of my 2014-S coins are PL as well. Does this now mean it is a 5 coin set?

Quite a difference between the enhanced and proof like 2014-S's.

One of these days, the clad and silver set that a friend acquired for me will find its way to me in England. Can't wait to have them in hand.

Are there any pictures available as examples of the difference?

edit: fixed typo in a tag.

Mine looks more proof than uncirculated when comparing it directly to the D mint (uncirculated) half dollar, and looks more uncirculated than proof when comparing it directly to the P mint (proof) half dollar.

I should call that mission accomplished, right?
