This old copper called to me when I set eyes on it at my LCS and for the price I couldn't resist. Lots of wear, too much for a dabbler like myself to even be certain of the year. I have my suspicions though. What do you think? '94? '95? '96? One of these days I'll have to invest in a guide to the Sheldon varieties.

Looks like a '94 to me. I can see the faint vertical line of the 4.

I do agree, it has the style of a 1794.
Beyond that however, very difficult to tell.

the top picture is rotated CCW a little. I took the image straightened it, played with color and toning. Below Liberty's bust, the last number looks like a 3 to me. I would guess 1793

I'd have to agree, a Sheldon variety of 1794. Very hard to attribute given the level of preservation.
Not impossible though...I've had a long day and won't try right now :-)

Look at the two leaves to the left of the O in ONE. They angle toward the O much more deeply than on most varieties, but still, the tip of the left leaf in the pair is higher than the top of the O. Now look at the N in ONE. The blob of raised metal at the lower right corner of the letter may not just be damage. There is one 1794 reverse where this N was punched upside-down, then corrected; it has the errant serif at the lower right corner. And combined with the pattern of Liberty's hair, I think this coin is consistent with Sheldon-56.

My respect, Philadelphian, I do not think I could attempt a reasonable attribution of the o.p's condition given the small amount of detail remaining.

I thought it looked like a 1794 as well. Truly a wealth of knowledge here.

I'll agree with the S-56 but the real key are the bottom two outer leaves on the right. They point DOWN. That is diagnostic of Rev DD (Breen) and that die is only used on S-56
