I found a $1 with serial number 1906 followed by 1907. Is there a name for that?

I think there is but can't remember. It's like a birth date and a death date.Maybe an anniversary note?

there are people out there who collect such things as these 'year ladders' - though that's not the name. I'd just call it a fancy serial number and leave it at that.

I think some call it a tombstone note. 1st year = birth year, 2nd year = death year.

So a really sad tombstone note at that.
