Swamperbob - The lines I am seeing are definitely post strike and are somewhat uniform from one coin to another. Almost like a cancellation mark except that they only occur on the reverse of the coin, usually at about a 45 degree angle to the shield. If we clock face the coin they would run from about 2:00 to 7:00 with about 1/8 to 3/16 inch separation between the lines.
I see others with a single cut line running from about 10:00 to 4:00 through the upper part of the shield. The marks do not look like knife or other tool cuts but more like machined cuts of some type. I would just write it off to someone's destructive nature, but I have seen perhaps 10 coins from different sources in the last year with these marks. It has me baffled.
