FAUSTINA JUNIOR, AR Denarius 3.02g Struck c.147-150 AD, under Antoninus Pius. Obv. FAVSTINA AVG PII AVG FIL, draped and pearl-diademed bust right. Rev. VENVS, Venus standing facing, head left, holding apple and rudder with dolphin entwined. Ref. RIC III 517; BMCRE 1067; RSC 101a.  Some of the portraits of the empresses are so attractive....but I think those of Faustina II are amongst the best. |
