Page 5 now and why do I still think this thread is going to end in a bad way? Back to the subject at hand on the Arnprior Dollar of 1955. Could there be a poorer choice for the nickname of this die over polishing variant. Die over polishing resulting in various stages of disappearing waterlines (back and front of canoes) exists right from the 1935 issues. Another misnamed variety is the 1952 No waterlines and also the 1957 1 waterline. Those are subjects for another thread after this one explodes ! ! Have a good rest of the week all............off to the Las Vegas Coin Show........everyone be nice to Dean and to each other !!!!! !

"Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence." (Carl Sagan)[SPP-Ottawa]

Notice the absence of a name for the firm.

In December 1955, the Royal Canadian Mint made up a special order of 2000 silver dollars for a firm in Arnprior, Ontario, after the regular issue of these coins had been officially completed for the year"(Charlton 6th Edition 1958)

"It is reported that late in 1955, after the regular issue had been struck, a special lot was minted for a firm in Arnprior, Ontario." (Canadian Numismatic Publishing Institute, First Edition 1959~60)
