Does anyone know if the 2015 50 cent roll is included in the January release? I think it was released in March last year, but just want to be sure. Any idea of the mintage for the half dollar rolls this year? Thanks in advance...

There is no .50 cent roll for January's release.

If I am reading this correctly the "usual" proof SD 40k mintage is split into 20k proof + 20k coloured proof (40k total) for the 2015 flag. I don't see how this justifies higher prices when the RCM retail price is already waaaaaay too high. Silver at USD$16.50/oz.

In 2014 (previous years are similar), the mintages were: Proof 40k BU 20k Pure silver set w/ gilded SD 25k Total 85k This year: Proof 20k BU 15k Pure silver set w/ coloured SD 20k Total 55K Mintage are lower. Prices are not higher.

@AlexA: Maybe the following will clear things up. Canada's annual commemorative silver dollar (whether in Proof, BU or part of a set) has always had a maximum potential mintage much higher than the limits for 2015. Here are the numbers since 2008: Proof SD2008: 65,000 2009: 50,000 2010: 50,000 2011: 40,000 2012: 40,000 2013: 40,000 2014: 40,000 2015: 20,000Brilliant Uncirculated SD2008: 35,000 2009: 50,000 Note: An interesting aberration.2010: 30,000 2011: 25,000 2012: 25,000 2013: 20,000 2014: 20,000 2015: 15,000Proof Set â€" Enhanced DollarNote: For 2009-2014, "Enhanced" means selectively gold-plated. For 2015, it means colourized.2008: 60,000 2009: 55,000 2010: 55,000 2011: 45,000 2012: 45,000 Note: There was also an additional standard proof set with the 2012 SD; it had a maximum mintage of 40,0002013: 25,000 Note: There was also an additional specimen set with the 2013 SD; it had a maximum mintage of 20,0002014: 25,000 Note: There was also an additional standard proof set with the 2014 SD; it had a maximum mintage of 30,0002015: 20,000So, the numbers for the 2015 SDs, regardless of option/version, are noticeably lower than previous years. As I mentioned above, it looks like the RCM is trying to make sure it has a sell-out on these coins â€" maybe to re-invigorate sales for the SD series after years of decline?

Ya I am sure their sales are down. I for one have spent like maybe 25% of what I did the previous year , maybe less at the mint, and every chance I had I would complain about the mintages... Looks like they have listened or were forced to listen due to crappy sales last year, plus the War themed coins turned me off from buying much last year as well. I could add in about the price of PM dropping for the last few years and their prices staying the same maybe even increasing on some coins last year etc etc but that seems to have fallen on deaf ears

Thankfully, the price of the SD is not tied directly to the current ag spot rate.
Imagine what a SD would have cost in 2011 when silver was close to $50US/oz?
However, I don't think that the mintage numbers above actually do tell the whole story.
Sales of coins are really all that matter and the most recent numbers available indicate that the reduced mintages in 2015 might just reflect the reality of SD and sets demand.
For 2013:
Proof 25,244 BU 13,325 Enhanced 20,182 total 58,751 SD specimen set 9,247
