Rackster Pillar of the Community United States 4809 Posts	Posted 12/05/2014 08:18 am Same here John. When I saw the title my mind settled on this anomaly right away. I'm a bit stymied by it. If a crack then I'd expect raised sharp ridges. I've seen 2 or 3 of these and none really 'felt' like a crack. Thought struck through a thread wire or something too. If just one then maybe a planchet problem but because of the common area it has to be die related I think. It's worth pursuing. Maybe Coop or Mike have an idea. Report this Post to the Staff
unholyroller Pillar of the Community United States 1903 Posts	Posted 12/05/2014 08:27 am I am at a disadvantage of going just by your pics, but if I had to make a blind guess on your situation I would have said you have a spot of glue on your coin and soak it in acetone. Note how the area in question looks like something was on the planchet when the coin was struck and the devices are weaker in that area. Report this Post to the Staff
