I think the original poster was referencing the $15k-$20k price as price for a problem-free VF, given he indicated he wants to focus on the market that cannot afford those kind of pieces but still want more than a worn piece of crap, which is what the majority of the surviving population is, more or less.

If you'd be happy with any of the numbers between 7500 and 9000$ then you better strongly consider the 7200$ cash offer. If those numbers is what it brings at auction then you could easily find yourself netting less than 7200$ after the fees are deducted.

DrTones,
There is one reason to counterfeit a contemporary coin around the turn of the century and that would be to fool a merchant.
I bought a few quarters from the time period to have as a study aid. They are crudely done.
Yours looks good to me.
There is no way that you will not come out ahead of the game so take a deep breath and hang on for the ride.

The Stacks/Heritage comparison speaks volumes. And your story of how you found it will become a part of the coin's
provenance.

In the process of talking with some people about it. Originally all three of us we're going to do a show, but there were some last minute changes and only Dirt Digler ended up doing this particular show (to air this spring). I'm currently working with a production company on something. The idea is still in the pitching phase but there's lots of interest being showed by a couple of particular networks.

Here is my question :
If you do go public is there any chance the owner of the property where you found the coin is going to want a cut of the profit ?
I don't even know how that works anyway ?
Nice find by the way.

Thanks guys, as for what channel, it's not set in stone yet. History and discovery are the top two we're shooting for. Still a little ways out though. As for the property owner. We had a 10% of the finds value agreement up front. So they will be getting 10% of what the coin sells for. They have asked to remain anonymous. I don't blame them. I think everyone and their brother would be knocking on their door wanting to detect and they don't want that kind of attention. They've agreed to let me go back when the weather permits :) It's pretty inaccessible now anyway with all the snow and rain we recently had.

Diggers is a good show but I do find those guys annoying when they find something... I also think calling everything "nectar" is incredibly stupid...

I really enjoy watching DrTones youtube channel and I would be really
happy for him if he got his own show and I would diffidently watch it....

Sent the coin in to Great Collections today. We'll see how it comes back from authentication and grading.
