Quote: ...insurance up to 25K and shipped for $53 If you think about it a bit, that's a real bargain bringing genuine peace of mind to boot. It would be interesting to know in advance, however, how UPS would realistically handle a claim on any item that 'could' have been a counterfeit in the first place. On smaller value items I'm confident no issues would present themselves but how do you feel UPS claims would actually react to a raw, un-slabbed coin on this magnitude of scale: push-back, excessive justification demanded during the claim process, arguments on the real vs perceived value... etc? Since I have never insured a coin with this much potential value under similar circumstances, having the answers to these questions in advance would certainly make me feel more comfortable. mdpmedia

Real world. I most likely wouldn't see a dime... Or a quarter for that matter. All I have is testimony from dealers that have held it and pictures that some feel are already questionable. I payed for nothing in essence. We'll see.

I enjoy reading these posts here and have fun watching a few of the Metal Detecting shows on Youtube. DrTones is this your full time job as a metal detectorist?

Haha! No, I'm not a full time detectorist. I wish! I'm a firefighter paramedic. Idaho state law requires that all metal detectorists have stupid knick names per mandate 208-21.6 ;) actually it's the name I used on the forums. Everyone else had punny names so I followed suit. My name is a play on words. I'm a big Indiana jones fan so I picked a name that refrences dr. Jones + metal detecting tones= Dr.Tones

Dr. Tones, here's advice you haven't heard...don't sell it now. Get it graded and put it safely away. It will grow in value like nothing else you have. When the kids get close to 18 and you need college money it would have been the best investment ever. You got along fine without the $8-10K so far! Keep it for the investment it truly is. Glad I heard about this on this forum.. I'm watching your You Tube shows.
