The seller that just realized over $6,600 from a jar has now another listed, including colonial issues -

Some of the inside contents are visible, it looks like everything inside are nickels and wheats.

I truly feel no remorse at all for these bidders/auctions. I think they are brilliant and they are pretty straight forward. If someone wants to part with the kind of money these are going off for...to each their own. I would like to think that NO ONE out there with this kind of money is that ignorant. It is what it is. The images make it pretty clear what the content is. They are clear, and make it very apparent what is inside. To me...I am more envious that I didn't come up with this sooner. I say...fill a jar with various date ASEs and toss it on ebay and see what happens....you might just be surprised

1. Place empty paper towel roll in empty jar
2. Drop problem examples of potentially expensive coins and an old paper note on the outside of the roll
3. Be sure the "important" side of said coins face toward the inside of the jar and that a coin is hiding the serial number on the note
4. Fill inside of paper towel roll with dateless Buffalo nickels and wheat cents
5. Remove paper towel roll and seal jar
6. Write some fairy tale about how this jar came into your possession
7. List on ebay
8. Profit!

Regarding the latest listing, it's the same seller, he's apparently feeding these jars out one per week. I'm thinking this latest may go for the most yet.

Kefiroth - I concur that these seem very much stage managed. Try putting coins in a jar one at a time, or pouring them in. They're not going to all end up facing the glass all around the circumference and depth of the jar like this (although a few will). In fact, many will stack in such a way that you'll only be able to see their edges from the outside. The defense is, of course, that the hoarder did this deliberately so he could see which coins were in what jar. I suppose if you're swallowing the rest of the story, well, you're probably going to buy that, too.

Some of the coins in these jars are quite nice, actually, but they're still overpriced.

Ha! I love this guy. He was dumb enough to buy it, and he is dumb enough to not open it and see what a scam it was. Now he is probably going to go back on ebay and buy $1,000 worth of unsearched wheat pennies rolls that have a reverse VDB on the end.

Come to think of it, he can probably sell the jar unopened buy him in a few decades and quadruple his money. *sigh*
