I came across this one today.I believe it is a VAM-4,as it has the small dimple next to the "M".
The flip it came in has a piece of scrap paper saying it is a UNC65.Being new to this hobby I don't have a clue as to what kind of grade this might bring.
What do you all think?

The light horizontal parallel light scratches in the fields (both obverse and reverse) suggest to me that someone unfortunately swiped it with a cloth at some point. They're not so bad that it'd necessarily get a "details" annotation, but I can't see it making MS65. A gouge just behind Liberty's nostril and another in front of her ear. Still an attractive coin, clearly uncirculated, might market grade at MS64.

I couldn't have said it any better than Lucky Cuss. Bet there's some serious luster to this one. If you're comfortable that it's really the dot, I'm good with VAM-4 as the VAM-3 dot would be noticeably larger in these images.

I have had a few coins with far less wipe lines get body bagged. Unless the photos are highlighting the lines, and that happens I would say it will "92" at PCGS. "92" is Details Cleaned, good looking coin but the wipes or fine lines in the fields really concern me.

The reverse looks almost proof-like from those pics.

Thanks for all of your opinions,I really appreciate it.

SsuperDdave is right, the luster is strong.Which makes it very difficult to photograph. These two pictures are as close as I can come(with the equipment I have)to what I see in hand.
For some reason the other photos seem to increase the 'damaged' look.A tiny little fine line scratch looks,on film, like a deep gouge.

If you guys say it could make a MS64,I'll just say WOHOOThank you!

I see now why this could be an addicting hobby! And I think I'm hooked.

Here is close up of the designers M.Sorry for the grainy picture.

Yeah, that's conclusive for the VAM, but they're common so it's an intellectual exercise. One has to give weight to twohawks' opinion on the lines; he submits a bunch more Morgans to PCGS than you or I do and he'll know what PCGS is doing with that stuff as of today. That said, there is no doubt that digital photography is exacerbating the look.

Thanks again,SsuperDdave.

Like I said,I'm still pretty new at this. All I have, has come from My Fathers collection. This makes only the third one ( VAM) that I have found so far and probably the best example. So whether it's common, or not, I'm proud to have it.Even if the value won't allow Me to go sign for a new car.

Thanks All!

They're all VAMs, man. Bring 'em on.

The worst we can do is admit defeat.
