And while I'm on the subject of grading, I'm trying to sort out the pricing differences between trends and Charlton. Charlton explains in a footnote that prices are based on certified coins, and for grades EF and up Charltons and trends seem to be pretty close.
For grades below EF - eg. 1935 nickel vg - vf, Charlton seems overpriced, this can't be a reflection of grading costs because nobody would pay for grading a coin in this low of grade, and if Charlton is including the TPG cost in the final pricing the price increase should be consistent, so what am I missing ?''
VF-30 prime example, believe it or not these nickels in these VF-20 and up grades are hard to find. it is kind of the opposite of nickel 50 cent and nickel dollars.
