Hi there - has anyone seen this before? It looks to me like there are some man made gouges, but there are a couple that look like the strike was overtop of the gouges (?) Tnks Dave
I have seen these before as well, mostly on quarters, or nickels which are pure nickel. I believe its a flaw in the planchet and it was struck over it. I don't know if there is a market for these, I only keep them if they look cool or are significant. Or if the coin is immaculate. With the PMD on the reverse, personally I would put it back into circulation.
