I can re-post my 1492 tomorrow, but that just means that this third edition gets stuck exactly where the two previous editions did.

As promised, here is my 1/2 Schwertgroschen from the German Duchy of Saxony. It is dated 1492 AD and is attributed as Levinson I-290. Unless we get a little new blood in here, this remains the terminus of these HFBCWG threads. @Jbuck, thank you so much for shepherding us through the past 23 months. In that time we have counted back some 523 years!

I just realized that we've been stuck at 1491 for much less than it looked like - all three editions had reached 1492 within the same year.
Apparently, the first edition took eight months to move past 1495. (And I'm pretty sure there were a few other multi-month holdups.) It had only been at 1492 for nine months so far.

Excellent! Yes, you do know what that means. The Second Edition gets locked and we can look forward to a Fourth Edition after the first of the year. We will still accept another 1492 (Petrus?) for now and 1491 can start tomorrow..

You should probably unlock the Second Edition right now - it's still theoretically possible that someone will come up with an 1491 coin there in the five hours remaining until midnight.
Five hours later, sure, it should probably be closed. But not yet so far.
[EDIT: fixed typo]

Quote: It had only been at 1492 for nine months so far. I wonder if the 3rd edition can move to 1491 or beyond before the 4th edition catches up? BTW, the 4th edition should have little trouble getting to 1600 in approximately 418 days, under the current rules. After that, progress might be slower, especially in the 1400s.

Nope, not going to do it. A 1491 is not going to show up. If by some chance one shows up here in the next three and one half hours, I will gladly have it moved there.

I wonder whether the Fourth Edition will get to 1492 in less than the 23 months it took for the Third...
The minimum is, of course, 526 days, i.e. 17 months and change. There'd probably be a few setbacks, however. Mind you, between EddieDiz with his Hungarians and giedrius with his Lithuanians, the 16th century will likely be mostly smooth sailing - we're more likely to get briefly stuck in the 17th or 18th century.

I guess I'll wait a little longer to post my coin dated 327 BC.

Wow, 327 BC? That's cool! I wonder what era they actually used, this is before the Ptolemaic and Seleukid periods...
My next coin for this thread (preliminarily - I have some Arabic pieces that I haven't attributed yet because my current camera sucks) is a much closer 570 AD (which we still probably won't reach).
