Facebook auction sites? Now that's another new one to me. Can you tell us more, tella?
I'm not sure how that would work, if it were connected to one's personal Facebook page.

Quote: Facebook auction sites? Now that's another new one to me. Can you tell us more, tella? Yeah, any links to the main ones in Oz. as I can never find them.I found one based in FN Qld. but it seems overpriced the couple of times I visited. Quote:Lets not forget that the major auction houses have also recently lifted their buyers premiums from 15% to almost 20%. Indirectly that will also affect the sellers. ebay has virtually a monopoly on consumer sales and auctions which is why most sellers still use it. It is the way to access the most potential buyers and it is still cheaper than major auction houses. ebay will be around for a few Years yet but I can't understand why they want to kill the Golden Goose by maximising profit to the nth degree. Selling Coins has always been expensive thou.,back in the 1970/80's I inserted buy/sell Classified Ads. in the SMH.,Age & CM and a couple of weeks later when the "Please Pay" slips turned up it ripped the inside out of any profits or cheap buys you made.

jimjamtwo ebay bought Gumtree August 2005 to short circuit any potential opposition. ebay is trying to sell Paypal, so Paypal's fee is going up from 2.3% + 30c to 2.6% + 30c from February 15 2015. Not bad if you can get away with increasing any fee by over 11% !! That's why I believe quicksales will have a gradual increase in disgruntled fed up ex ebay sellers, and enjoy not having any listing or FVF's to pay, along with the freedom of choosing to have payments for sales paid for via Direct online bank deposit. We have a voice, so why don't we start spreading the word about the existance of Australia's quicksales? We can all join in to build quicksales for the mutual benefit of we, the sellers, our buyers and quicksales. It'll cost us all exactly nothing. Think about it. Our efforts will cost us nothing, while we stand to gain by listing all we want to list for FREE, and not having our pockets picked by hungry ebay's listing, FVF's and the great con that Paypal is.

Wow I know ebay is tough on sellers but for consumers its great; I buy most of my coins off of ebay. Some of the reasons being my purchase price is protected in case I don't receive my coin and I can reasonably be assured I'm getting what is advertised also ebay bucks has gotten me a few coins at no cost. Then consider the selection and if you look for a particular coin long enough you can usually find it. Ipso facto I ended up buying the complete Booker T. Washington classic silver commemorative halves in MS64-MS66, but it took me 3 years to do so. I will say that I've purchased most of them at less than the FMV listed for said coins. Also as I stock holder in ebay its been good for my portfolio. I will say that when ebay has asked for my opinion I have always stated that the sellers fee's should be more reasonable because it would be better for all in the long run. Now Paypal is another story because I have had my problems with them in the past but they seem to have done better now for the buyers. I'm sure they are killing the sellers with added fee's. Maybe ebay will wake up one day and remember the sellers and also the buyers are what made ebay.

Yeah,i agree with most of your comments, majority of my Coin buying is done on ebay for the reasons you have stated. But....without sellers the whole house comes crumbling down,as history tells us it doesn't happen overnite,it starts as a brick here and a brick there and when they wake up to whats going on its too late, the Golden Goose is dead.
