With the days of the nickel-brass pound now numbered, I thought it would be fun to find the worst possible example of the worst-struck pound coin - the 1985 issue! Perhaps we could send the worst one to a TPG and see what grade they would give it? Here's a 1985 pound from my change yesterday. It's pretty ugly, but not as bad as some - you can actually still read the date and "ONE POUND"... Looking forward to seeing your lowball 1985's!  |

I think these coins reflect my life in some odd way. 1985 All shiny and ready to take the world on, 30 years later badly scarred and well worn      All pictures are of 1 coin, I will happily donate to having the worst 1 graded NumisRob. Hopefully some more will join in and get a pot going. |

  I've always wondered how this one got so beat-up. It's been in my collection and out of circulation for years - I wonder how it would look if it had been accumulating even more wear over that time... |

The alloy has turned out to be a bit too soft for a circulation application.
Small wonder that they are so easy to counterfeit!
Bring on the new bimetallic One Pound, hopefully with harder alloys.

 I assume this has been through a drier by the lack of milling on the edge, or it's just had a VERY rough paper-round. |

Came across another one.  Worse motto on this one tho. Also have one for the Road Coins thread, but as it's a leek (possibly 85) and was found in circulation not on a road, I'll add it here as well.  |

Couple more... nothing as bad as previous ones. I assume this one has spent some time on a busy road  and this one has definitely spent time in the ground (Soil still in the motto)  (Colours are all messed up but it was really dark brown) Edited by Red
