Another attempt to circulate dollar, two dollar, etc. coins will fail again. I would like to see $200, $300, $400, etc bills. Imagine bills from $100 to $1,000 all inclusive. And the same with coins. A 2 Cent, 3 Cent, 4 Cent, etc. all the way up to a dollar. Picture those at a McDonald's trying to figure out what to give you for change.

Only if we fail to remove the corresponding notes from circulation.

Good catch. I missed that comment earlier.

For the record, I would oppose both being on coins since both of them would likely oppose the same.

I don't know anyone who could walk around with a $400, $500, or $1,000 bill in their wallet. The only thing large bills such as these would do is make it easier for criminals (drug dealers, etc.) to conduct their business. Nada to that prospect!

Anything larger than $100 historically was reserved for inter-bank transfers. The need for that has long since passed now.

However $100 doesn't buy what it used to and there is an argument for larger bills. I think it'll be a long time before that happens.

It would be interesting to see a $200 bill with some fancy artwork and security features (polymer, anyone?).

Oh, heaven forbid....no more dead presidents!

If anyone is looking for new designs for coins, try using the coins of the early 1900's as a template (Indian Heads, Buffaloes, Mercury, Walkers, etc.)
Something a little more artistic than a dead guy.

They can change it anyway they want though, I'll still collect what I want.

I am a staunch Reagan fan; that being said, I think him or TR on any currency would not be appropriate.

Dead presidents IMHO do not belong on currency, though they've had a good run.

Let's bring Lady Liberty back.

Theodore Roosevelt $500 note.

Replace the $1 note with equivalent volume production of the $2 note.

Limited-production clad business-strike $20 34-mm Liberty coin.
Sold in ten-coin rolls by the Mint for face value + shipping.
A collector's item, yet also usable for 'special-occasion' spending (birthday/holiday gift, or a very special 'tip' coin!) with purchasing power closer to what a silver Dollar could buy back in the day.

jbuck...you forget, you cannot kill the 5 cent piece several steps prior to the elimination of the quarter. Both need to be done at the same time, so making change continues to work. 20 cent introduction would possibly be required. So that making change for a half dollar for a 10 cent purchase requires two coins, as opposed to 4.

Or we could just admit that inflation is more than the government acknowledges and eliminate everything below the half dollar. Which would eliminate the stupid $9.95 and $9.99 price tags. It always bothers me. Just make it $10. (And while you're at it, just call it $10.50, taxes included, make life easier)

I don't think modern presidents should be on coins. I'm sort of OK with Kennedy since he died in office, but unless they did something amazing in history, I don't want to immortalize officials just because they held an office. Reagan was a popular president among Americans of a certain age, but he is not a historical figure or hero kids will revere in 50 years.

The dollar coin is pointless, a two dollar coin would be beyond pointless.

Yeah Roosevelt, Kennedy and Lincoln died in office and did amazing stuff. Such as led the country through the civil war, the great depression and WWII, and the Cuban missle crisis and started the moon landing program. Reagan is mostly know for being conservative and his questionable economic policy. I know he's a conservative hero but why not but Johnson on coins for liberals then. I don't think Kennedy did enough for a permanent coin design either.
Washington and Jefferson was founding fathers.

I never want their to be another president on our coins ever again.

All I said was that it would be cool. Not sure about practical, etc.

I remember watching Let's Make A Deal back in the day when Monty Hall was always pulling out those outrageous large bills. I would drool at them. I've always been a little sad that the government did away with them. Well, I guess you can still buy them on ebay
